Witch Hunt

We have always been hunted… For as long as there’s an entitled god, there will always be their entitled followers.

Long ago, during the dark ages, a sister brave enough to face the enforcers of the false god, made her protest be known during the ritual of Fogueira da Sarça Ardente. Sisters, trialled to be burnt at the ritual for the villagers to contemplate the might of their beloved false god, and the rest to cower in fear of being the next in the fire. But that night, the bravest of us stood between the accused witches, the hating men. She sang and clapped to the goddess Nabia. Her voice begging for the fire burning her sisters to be put out… Her hands clapping with rage towards the men who had lit the fire in name of a supposed benevolent god. That rage was what queen of the gods, Nabia eared.                Everyone burned that night… Amidst the fire, the sister remembered as Witch of the Palmas vowed vengeance against those who justify their violence in name of a god. This night, I make the same pledge clapping my rage:                “I, daughter of queen Nabia, sister of the moon, bruxa da Lusitania, vow that I’ll struct down the men who oppress us, that hunt us, that burn us… in name of the false god!”
